Most useful tree care is not dramatic. It is protecting roots, watering according to soil and weather, keeping mulch away from the trunk, making small structural decisions early and noticing change before a problem becomes urgent.

Record unusual early leaf loss, canopy thinning or fungal fruiting bodies. Clear drainage problems without trenching through major roots. Plan non-urgent work with species and objective in mind rather than assuming all trees should be pruned in winter.
Winter
Deciduous structure can be easier to see, but leaflessness is not itself decline. Check branch unions, past topping wounds and clearance. Some species and flowering objectives call for different timing.
